Boots has launched a new online “Virtual Pharmacist” service, designed to provide specialist advice direct to customers in the comfort of their own homes.

Boots describe the service as “the next generation of health advice”, and say it has been developed in response to demand from consumers for health advice from a “trusted source” in the evening, the time when they most need it.

The pharmacy service is designed to help provide callers with a quick, after-hours response to questions on minor ailments.

The service is available from 6pm to midnight, Monday to Saturday, and customers simply email their questions and wait to be called back from a pharmacist within 20 minutes.

Tricia Kennerley, Healthcare Development Director Boots, said: “Our customers have been telling us that they would like to have access to interactive health information and advice.”
