Proposals to replace traditional GP surgeries with new polyclinics have been welcomed by the Expert Patients Programme Community Interest Company (EPP CIC).

While polyclinics have been opposed from practice managers, GPs, politicians and the Patients Association in recent months, the EPP CIC sounded a rare note of enthusiasm for the proposals.

Simon Knighton, EPP CIC Chief Executive, said: “People with long-term health conditions require access to a wide range of health services. The introduction of polyclinics will allow people to access all the services they may need under one roof.

“Bringing all the services together will enable people with long-term health conditions to have timely and appropriate access to local support and resources that they may require throughout their condition.”

EPP CIC runs self-management courses to provide patients with the skills and confidence they need to manage their long-term health condition(s) better on a daily basis.
