QOF exception rates freeze

Patient exclusions from QOF submissions remained unchanged in 2010/11.

The overall exception rate in England has stayed at 5.4% during 2010/11 – the same figure as the year before – figures from the NHS Information Centre shows.

Exception rates between practices varied from 0.6% to 40.3%.

The variation at SHA level also remained stationary this year, with 0.9% the difference between the highest and lowest.

PCT exception rate variation narrowed slightly during 2010/11, closing by 0.1%.

Just 1% of practices reported overall exception rates for clinical indicators higher than 15%, compared 1.8% in 2009/10.

Almost 5% of practices had rates higher than 10% – down from 5.5% in previous years.
