A website has been launched by NHS London allowing patients to compare how GP practices in the capital are performing against each other.

The greater transparency comes after the development of regional standards for London practices, outlining the “minimum patient expectations” – a collaborative effort by NHS London and Londonwide LMCs.

Patients will now be able to access information about their GP and find out the screening and patient satisfaction rates of all the GP surgeries in London.

GPs were given the chance to validate the data before it was published. It will be refreshed in the new year to reflect the latest reporting periods.

“By making this data available in an easy to access format, we hope patients will be able to get information that is both important and relevant to them,” said Dame Ruth Carnall, Chief Executive at NHS London.

The ‘My Health London’ website gifts patients the opportunity to engage with their local practice, which is hoped to lead to patients having a sense of ownership for services, developments and improvements.

In launching the initiative, Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: “Few decisions are as critical as those affecting our health and that of our family and friends.

“I welcome efforts by GPs in the capital to improve dialogue with their patients.”
