NMC appoints new diversity and equality expert

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has proved its commitment to fair play by appointing a new Head of Diversity and Equality.

Natalie Salmon joins the NMC from the Disability Rights Commission and will begin her role on 3 September 2007.

Carol Bailey, head of organisational development at the NMC, said: ” The NMC values the diversity of its registrants and aims to ensure that both reflect the community we serve.

“We are committed to promoting diversity and equality aacross all the functions of the NMC and we intend to do this by implementing the objectives we have set out in our equality schemes.

“We welcome Natalie as she joins us at the start of a challenging road ahead.”

Natalie will first begin work on the development of a new NMC Race Equality Scheme to present to the NMC Council.
