Leadership and workforce are among the major themes being discussed at a new conference that aims to bring general practice and community pharmacy together for collaboration.

They are one of five key themes announced for the inaugural Community Pharmacy and General Practice Conference, which has been launched by Management in Practice’s publisher Cogora in partnership with the National Pharmacy Association (NPA).

The free CPD-accredited event will take place at the National Conference Centre, Birmingham on 21–22 June 2026, with a programme that reflects the current main pressures facing general practice.

It will bring over 1,000 practice managers, community pharmacists, GPs, nurses, PCN and ICB leaders for two days of shared learning, debate and implementable solutions with a focus on neighbourhood health.

Practice managers can register for the free event here.

Each conference day will open and close with plenary sessions. Alongside the plenaries, parallel sessions will run across three conference rooms, delivering practical, case-based learning structured around five key programme themes:

  • Leadership and Workforce will support primary care professionals to build the leadership, advocacy and negotiation skills needed to influence decision-making, diversify services and develop portfolio careers across sectors.
  • Collaboration in Action will showcase real-world examples of partnership working between community pharmacy and general practice, highlighting clinically and financially sustainable models across medicines optimisation, vaccinations, long-term conditions and neighbourhood health pilots.
  • Business and Service Innovation will explore how better-coordinated services can reduce duplication, improve access and free up GP capacity, with a focus on Pharmacy First, New Medicines Services, pharmacy-led care pathways and emerging prescribing roles.
  • Technology and AI for Integration will examine how digital tools and AI can enable real-time collaboration across primary care, addressing interoperability, shared records, referrals and digital access to community pharmacy services.
  • Clinical Skills and Knowledge Boost will deliver concise clinical updates and practical workshops across priority therapy areas including respiratory care, weight management, allergy, insomnia, gastroenterology and women’s health, supporting practice-ready learning for the wider multidisciplinary team.

In addition to sessions, the programme will include a GP pharmacy in focus group with the Primary Care Pharmacy Association, and a dedicated networking zone running throughout both days of the conference.

Worth 10 CPD points, the conference is free to attend and designed to support practical collaboration across primary care.
