One CCG has set up patient participation groups in almost all GP practices.

Most of the 49 GP practices in Dudley CCG have established patient participation groups (PPGs) with the aim of strengthening relationships between practice managers (PMs), GPs and patients.

Patients have been offered the chance to participate by either attending meetings, or contributing to topics via email of fax.

David Hegarty, Dudley CCG chair said: “We understand the importance of listening to and acting on what our patients say and, as a membership organisation, local GPs are running Dudley CCG, meaning that now we’re closer to [patients] than ever before.”

Julie Jasper, Dudley CCG lay member for patient and public engagement said: “We need and actively encourage people to get involved in healthcare in Dudley.”
