The final seniority factorsare calculated once data from GP tax returns has been collected and the average superannuable income from GPs is known.

Seniority factor payments were introduced as part of the GMS contract in 2004 and were designed to reward GPs’ experience but are being phased outvia a 15% year-on-year annual reduction. They are being completely scrapped from 2020.
