The official website of the NHS has appointed a US firm to contact users about their health concerns.

Responsys, which provides an on-demand email and marketing automation service, will help deliver personalised health programmes linked to NHS Choices.

The NHS Choices site allows users to make decisions about their health, from lifestyle changes to the practical aspects of finding and using NHS services.

The firm’s vice president John Nugent said: “We are proud to have been selected by NHS Choices after a thorough selection process which found Responsys to be best-placed to provide a cost-efficient email marketing solution.

“As we move to a more choice-based and personalised healthcare service it is crucial to have individualised communications, which are only possible with an automated system such as Responsys Interact.”

NHS Choices is then able to send automated, customised healthcare communications to millions of individuals each week.

During the NHS Choices registration process, users can select the healthcare information that is of most interest to them from over 50 options, from stress and weight loss to teenage health concerns and pregnancy issues.
