Andy Burnham has replaced John Healey as Shadow Secretary of State for Health in a shadow cabinet reshuffle.

Mr Burnham served as Health Secretary between June 2009 and May 2010.

Liz Kendall, one of the six 2010 intake of MPs, was also  promoted to the Shadow Minister for Care and Older People.

“I am determined that my shadow cabinet not only holds this government to account but speaks to the public and the country,” said Labour leader Ed Miliband.

“My decision to appoint half-a-dozen members of the 2010 intake shows the talent that Labour has and the way in which this new generation can join us in taking Labour’s agenda forward.”
