NHS organisations have been asked for feedback on current Working Time regulations introduced by the European Parliament.
The European Working Time Directive was introduced into UK legislation in 2009.
It limits doctors in training to a maximum 48-hour week, averaged over a six-month period.
The NHS Confederation’s Europe Office would like feedback from NHS organisations on how they have coped with the constraint of current regulations, particularly in relation to ensuring doctors get high quality training and experience, while continuing to provide high-quality care.
The findings of the survey will provide input to the work being carried out by the Working Time Regulations Taskforce, who will be reporting to the Secretary of State for Health.
