A new £3.5m health centre is to be built in Normanton, situated between Wakefield and Castleford in West Yorkshire.
King’s Medical Centre (plan pictured) will be housed in a part three-storey, steel-frame building, occupying a key site within the town centre, and replacing an existing facility with no further scope for expansion.
Designed to exploit its sloping site, the King’s Medical Centre will feature a dentist and primary care trust (PCT) facility, with district nurse accommodation and consulting rooms on the lower ground floor.
At ground floor level, the contractor will create a spacious reception and waiting room area, as well as a range of GP consulting rooms, minor surgery suites, treatment and community rooms, and a large pharmacy facility.
The project, secured by ISG with Dr David Brown & Partners, is due to commence early in the New Year, with completion scheduled for November 2008.
