GP surgery chiefs from around the country are set to descend upon Manchester this week when the city plays host to the second Practice Managers’ Conference, it has been announced.
The NHS Alliance and the Department of Health have repeated their collaboration and organised a second event following the success of the meeting in Bournemouth last year.
The conference, on 14 January, will allow experts from various fields to discuss crucial issues affecting practice managers, including the devolution of certain services and the latest developments in the NHS and primary care.
A spokeswoman for NHS Alliance praised the Department of Health for realising that practice managers need to be “on board” to ensure the smooth running of primary care services.
And NHS Alliance chairman Dr Michael Dixon (pictured) added: “In the past, practice managers were left out in the cold but are now poised to take centre stage in primary care reform. They are becoming the new centurions of change in the NHS and will be the key to successful practice-based commissioning and improving patient access in primary care.”
