A strategy intended to ensure NHS patients are treated with more respect has been launched by the Scottish government.
The plan is also designed to create more efficiency for GPs and other primary care services.
Delivering Quality In Primary Care is billed as a “blueprint” for improving the quality of the health service. It suggests how community services can improve patient access, ensure more “effective partnerships” between healthcare professionals and enhance how primary and secondary care groups communicate with each other.
Scottish Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said primary care will make a “huge contribution” to ensuring the strategy is realised in Scotland.
She said: “Primary care accounts for more than 90% of all patient contact with the NHS, so it is absolutely right that it is at the forefront of introducing the strategy.”
