Navigating practice finances in a turbulent climate, dealing with conflict among staff and tips for success with the new CQC inspection method are among the vital topics practice managers and GPs can hear about at upcoming Management in Practice events.

There are only two more conferences for 2024, one in London on 3 September and the other in Newcastle on 23 September.

Both programmes are multi-stream, with sessions to help managers and partners keep abreast of key developments in general practice and learn about innovative strategies and schemes being implemented in other surgeries.

Highlights from the three-stream conference in London include:

  • The seven ingredients for running a successful business in primary care
  • How to ensure your staff don’t want to leave their job
  • How to become a veteran friendly practice
  • Avoiding clinical negligence allegations
  • HR issues – with an opportunity to put your most pressing questions to an HR expert  
  • A look at practical wellbeing strategies for practice managers and GPs.

The keynote speaker is financial expert James Gransby, vice-chairman, Association of Independent Specialist Medical Accountants, who will be offering insight on what higher earning practices do differently and optimising GP finances.

Meanwhile, the two-stream conference in Newcastle features sessions on:

  • Financial forecasting for GP practices
  • Tips and ideas on creating effective digital comms for your practice
  • Creating a menopause friendly workplace
  • How to support patients to use online access
  • Seven steps for success with the CQC’s with new single assessment framework.

The keynote address will be from Dr Alan McCubbin, GP principal and chair of Newcastle and North Tyneside LMC. He will updating attendees about the latest on the GP contract and how practices can manage overwhelming demand.
