Managers are being urged to get proper training to boost morale in the workplace.
A recent survey by The Chartered Management Institute found that despite the slow turnaround in the economy, some 70% of managers thought that morale in the workplace had worsened over the last six months.
Meanwhile, less workers felt involved and valued in their firms, according to 45% of managers.
Official statistics from the CMI show there is a straightforward reason why they might not know what to do – most of them are not qualified to manage people.
Statistics show that only one in five managers in the UK have formal management training, a figure CMI wants to raise to 50% by 2020.
