Updated legislation due to be enforced later this year will ensure that all healthcare professionals have relevant insurance or indemnity to cover their practice.
Statutory regulated healthcare professionals working in the NHS will be fully covered for practice that they undertake as part of their employment.
Employers and managers could be faced with questions from staff over the type and level of cover provided by their employment, according to NHS Employers.
An NHS Employers statement said: “To ensure we keep employers up to date over the coming months we will be in discussion with the Department of Health and the professional regulators and we will post updates through the NHS Employers Workforce Bulletin.”
NHS Employers has developed a Q&A page together with the unions and professional regulators.
The Q&A is available to view on the NHS Employers website.
