Productivity can be damaged when work environments are non-inclusive according to research.

Interviews conducted by network group OUTstanding highlighted that 85% of closeted LGBT professionals waste energy on hiding their sexuality despite the fact that 74% of those surveyed believe that being out has not impacted on their career.

A quarter of respondents said they would like to see more mentoring opportunities for LGBT employees with 27% raising  the need for more openly LGBT executive role models.

CEO and founder of OUTstanding Suki Sandhu said:“It’s vital that those in leadership positions use their influence to communicate that by being authentic and yourself at work business professionals will be more confident, perform better and ultimately boost the business’s bottom line.”
