Job satisfaction among British employees is on the rise, new research suggests.

A report published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows that the number of employees who were satisfied with their career has increased in 2013 compared to 2012.

The report also showed that anxiety levels were falling, while people with flexible working arrangements and reduced hours had the highest level of  satisfaction.

The results were released following an independent report which showed that 27% of healthcare employers use zero hours contracts.

Women were said to have higher levels of satisfaction with their career development and consider their jobs to be more worthwhile, according to Personal Wellbeing in the UK.

The flip side of that, however, was that of those women who did experience anxiety, their levels were significantly higher than men’s.

However, between 2011-2013, overall anxiety levels dropped.
