Health and social care staff in the West Midlands can apply for £10,000 in funding to support the roll out of innovations or service developments designed to improve patient care.
The scheme, launched by West Midlands Academic Health Science Network (WMAHSN), will provide successful applicants with funding and support to help implement a range of projects over a six-month period.
The Safety Innovation & Improvement Fund will be open to individuals and teams in both health and social care and WMAHSN said it is keen to support projects that primarily focus on managing patient or service user deterioration, and projects from care homes.
Applications will also be considered in other areas, including workforce, cardiovascular disease, mental health, medicines safety, COPD, tracheostomy care, and maternity and neonatal, the organisation said.
The scheme will support teams to make measurable changes to patient care through the use of Quality Improvement (QI) methods, it added.
The WMASHN is one of 15 Academic Health Science Networks set up by NHS England in 2013 in a bid to ‘spread innovation and improve access to high-quality, patient-centred healthcare’.
Kate Hall, WMAHSN director of implementation and adoption, said: ‘We are very pleased to launch the new West Midlands Safety Innovation and Improvement Fund. This is a fantastic opportunity for health and social care staff to access funds and support which will assist them in making improvements for their patients and service users.’
The fund is open to applications from any individual or team working in health and social care within the West Midlands and AHSN area. The deadline for applications is 8 November 2020.
