The Institute of Commissioning Professionals (IoCP) has merged with the Institute of Healthcare Management to better prepare practice managers in commissioning roles.
Members of the IoCP unanimously voted in favour of the move to cope with the increased challenges the health reforms will bring.
The IoCP formed in 2007 in a drive to improve commissioning standards.
Its membership is made up of professionals from the NHS, Social Care and Third Sector.
“We are delighted to welcome the IoCP members into the IHM family and see considerable synergies and professional benefits for all members including GP practice managers,” said Sue Hodgetts, Chief Executive of IHM.
It is claimed the merger will help to facilitate improved standards, communications and practice at a local level, as well as help prepare managers for the health reforms.
