Draft guidance for the 2014/15 quality and outcomes framework (QOF) has been published by NHS Employers.

The guidance provides a summary of the changes to QOF since the last contract was agreed.

This includes the retirement of 24 indicators from the clinical domain, six indicators from the public health domain, nine indictors from the quality and productivity domain and the retirement of the patient experience domain. This released a total of 341 points.

A total of points will be moved into the global sum, and the remaining 103 points will be used to fund a new enhanced services for avoiding unplanned admissions.

The colour-coded summary table produced by NHS Employers goes into detail on each of the indicators and how they have been amended.

The Framework guidance for GMS contract 2014/15 reads: “These changes are intended to reduce bureaucracy, allow GPs and practice staff more time to focus on the needs of individual patients and avoid unnecessary annual recall and testing on patients.”
