All clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in England seeking authorisation have submitted their applications to the NHS Commissioning Board (NHS CB).

The NHS CB confirmed it has now received submissions from the 46 CCGs in ‘Wave 4’ – the final group to present their applications.

Dame Barbara Hakin, national director of commissioning development at the NHS CB, said the news marks “a real milestone” in the progress of the reforms.

“The submission of applications for all 211 CCGs marks a real milestone in the work to establish a clinically-led commissioning system in England,” she said.

“In all four waves, every single CCG submitted its evidence on time and this reflects the hard work and dedication CCG leaders have shown throughout the authorisation process.”

The authorisation decision for CCGs in ‘Wave 1’ is expected on 5 December 2012, with CCGs in ‘Wave 2” due to learn their fate on 18 January 2013.

CCGs in ‘Wave 3’ and ‘Wave 4’ will find out their authorisation decision on 15 February 2013 and 6 March 2013 respectively.
