Chair of the NHS Future Forum Professor Steve Field has been appointed a senior role in the NHS Commissioning Board (NHS CB).

The inner city Birmingham GP has been appointed to the NHS CB leadership team as Deputy National Medical Director, where he will be responsible for reducing health inequalities in line with the NHS Constitution.

Also taking up a role on the NHS CB is Professor Keith Willett – currently National Clinical Director for Trauma Care – who has been appointed to the role of Director for Acute Episodes of Care.
Prof Willett will lead on work aiming to help the NHS support people to recover as quickly as possible from episodes of ill health or injury.

Professor Sir Bruce Keogh, National Medical Director at the NHS CB, said he was “delighted” with the appointments.

“I am delighted that we have been able to secure these two high-calibre appointments,” he said.

“Both have a strong track record of leadership and innovation which will be of enormous benefit to the NHS in England.”
