The system which provided clinical IT systems to thousands of GP practices will continue, it has been revealed.
More than 80% of GP IT systems were provided through GP Systems of Choice (GPSoC) since it was introduced in 2007.
The extension was arranged by the GPSoc team, now part of the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC).
HSCIC supports the delivery of IT intrastructure, information systems and standards of sharing data.
GPSoC have been consulting with both GP representatives and suppliers on new contracting arrangements to support clinical IT systems in the future.
New proposals for the GPSoC framework have yet to be approved by the Department of Health, but the updates could improve how suppliers systems intergrate with the practice’s clinical IT system.
