The reception team at Compass House Medical Centres has won Receptionist of the Year at an event honouring excellence in primary care.
The team, based in Brixham, Devon, picked up the award against stiff competition at Friday’s 11th annual GP Awards GP Awards at a glitzy ceremony held at the Park Plaza Westminster hotel in London.
The GP Awards – held each year by Management in Practice’s parent company Cogora – shines a light on the remarkable work carried out by Britain’s primary care professionals every day.
The team impressed the judges through their pivotal role in designing and piloting the practice’s navigation system, as well as training other practices in it. They have also supported another practice, which has been without a management team for six months.
Stephanie Tedstone, practice manager at Compass House, said: ‘It’s amazing that our patient care advisors have won this award. They’re such a big support to our whole team with everything they’ve done over the past 12 to 18 months. They’ve taken on loads of extra training, they’ve done health navigation and they’ve helped design the system that’s been implemented across practices in Devon and further afield.
‘They’re so enthusiastic. The feedback they get from our patients is amazing and they’re always on the ball. They’re just the best team.’
GP Dr L Jones added: ‘My job would not be possible without the team behind me. The reception team are really integral to how I work every day – day in, day out – in supporting me and managing the patients, it’s fantastic. I’m so proud of them.’
The other finalists for the category were:
- Hillview Reception Team
- Lynne Walton, Eaglescliffe Medical Practice
