GP practices in England will be asked to open over the Easter Bank Holiday to help the NHS cope with the coronavirus crisis.

This comes as NHS England expects infections from the virus to peak over the period.

The BMA told members that ’emergency changes to GMS contract regulations are being made which are likely to lead to practices being required to be open on Good Friday and Easter Monday’

It said this comes ‘as it is expected that this bank holiday period will coincide with a peak in activity’.

They added: ‘We are working with NHSE/I on the details of this and will provide more information as soon as possible.’
