GPs are mourning their practice nurse, Alice Kit Tak Ong, who died yesterday after testing positive for coronavirus (Covid-19).
Ms Ong, 70, worked for the NHS for 44 years, having spent two decades at North London’s Greenfield Medical Centre and Colindale Medical Centre.
In a statement, Greenfield Medical Centre said: ‘It is with deepest sadness that we announce the death of Kit Ong, our nurse practitioner and beloved colleague who passed away yesterday as the result of complications following Covid-19 infection.
‘She was a loyal, committed and highly experienced nurse who brought expertise and skill to all areas of her work. She was not only caring, but had a great sense of humour and was much loved by everyone here at Greenfield.’
NHS North Central London CCGs told Pulse: ‘It is with great sadness that we heard today of the tragic death of Kit Ong.
‘She was much loved by her team and leaves an important legacy, having inspired many junior nursing colleagues who have benefitted from her vast knowledge, experience and passion for nursing.’
It comes as a number of NHS staff have died with Covid-19, including GP Dr Habib Zaidi.
