What will happen to the cost-rent reimbursement in the new NHS?

Question in full:

With all the proposed NHS changes in England, what will happen to the cost-rent reimbursement for GP practices on the new General Medical Services (nGMS) contract, and who will be responsible for improvement grants or inputting finance into older properties to cater for these changes?

A: In the last issue of Management in Practice, we looked at the proposed changes under the Health and Social Care Bill, which offered little information or insight into the future funding for GP practices, both in terms of rent reimbursement and procurement of new premises. In view of the considerable feedback the coalition government has received over the upheaval proposed for primary care, the proposals are being reviewed. We will continue to monitor future announcements and update periodically.
