Is it a legal requirement to give paid time off for full-time staff to attend medical appointments?

Question in full:

Is it a legal requirement to give paid time off for full-time staff to attend doctor/nurse/hospital/dentist appointments or should the time be either unpaid or taken as leave?

Answer:

Unless the contract of employment states otherwise, there is no requirement to pay staff for time off due to medical appointments. However, if the employee is pregnant then all medical appointments should be paid in full.
