Two branches of the same surgery will continue to provide care for their community after a new contract to run the service has been awarded by the local CCG.
Cliff House Medical Practice in Lincoln, Lincolnshire will continue to operate from its two sites in Burton Road and Gresham Street, after business partner Mrs Errum Ansari and partners have been awarded a new contract by NHS Lincolnshire West Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
It comes as partners successfully won a competitive tender process.
Following the unexpected death in October 2016 of Mrs Ansari’s husband, Dr Shahid Ansari, the CCG was considering to close the branch in Gresham Street and bring services together under one roof.
Dr Ansari was a single handed GP and had a GMS contract with NHS Lincolnshire West CCG to provide GP services at Cliff House Medical Practice, which came to an end after his death.
Lincolnshire Community Health Services temporarily took over the practice under a ‘caretaker agreement’ from January 2017 and its current contract will expire on 31 March 2018.
After going through the feedback that some of the 6133 patients provided, the CCG decided that both branches would remain open under the new contract.
Mrs Ansari and her partners Dr Runa Saha, Dr Ngozi Nwanosike and Dr Rehaan Ansari will be able to run the service again from 1 April 2018 under an APMS contract.
Chief operating officer at the CCG Sarah Jane-Mills said: ‘The CCG is confident that the new partnership will provide a high quality of patient care.
‘We are pleased that Mrs Ansari will be able to carry on his hard work and care for patients at Cliff House Medical Practice.’
The CCG said that patients are not to expect any changes following the new contract and most of the current staff will continue to operate as usual.
Mrs Ansari said: ‘The partners and I are very pleased to have been successful through this extensive tendering process.
‘We will continue to provide excellent service and good quality medical care to our patients. We would like to thank the wider community for their immense support during this very difficult and sad time.
