The quality of care at Stowhealth Surgery, in Stowmarket, Suffolk was found to be outstanding from The Care Quality Commission (CQC), with the published report explaining why.
So far more than 1,100 general practices have been rated, and around 85% of these general practices have been either good or outstanding.
Stowhealth’s CQC report points out it’s outstanding areas, including a fully equipped gym in the practice with qualified fitness instructors to assist patients with improving their mobility, manage body weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The practice’s integrated approach to long-term medical conditions (LTMC) had also won awards and there were weekly LTMC clinics in place to ensure patients received a one-stop medication and health condition review, run by a team of health care assistants, nurses and GPs.
Improvements requested by a registered patient feedback group were also carried out, including lowering sections of the reception desk for wheelchair users and providing all clinical rooms with electric couches.
Janet Williamson, Deputy Chief Inspector of General Practice and Dentistry in CQC’s Central region said:“Feedback from patients and clinical teams was excellent and staff went above and beyond their level of duty to care for patients. The practice also had a positive working atmosphere and was committed to continuing to improve services for its patients.
“We found that the practice displayed an excellent understanding of the differing needs of their patients and staff demonstrated a commitment to help and support them.
