The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) has published a complete guide to GP training and the early years after.

The book covers everything trainees and GPs need to know about the training process and guides them through the years beyond.

The GP training guide, edited by Dr Matt Burkes and Dr Alec Logan, both practising GPs, is split into three sections:

– Part I – Tips for trainees in the hospital setting.

– Part II – Tips for trainees working in the GP setting.

– Part III – Beyond training.

An RCGP statement said: “It provides pragmatic advice and tips on all stages of training, covering hospital rotations, general practice training in the community, the transition to becoming an independent practitioner, and the various methods of assessment employed by the RCGP.

“It also offers advice for newly qualified GPs on getting a job, practice finance, locuming, appraisal and revalidation, and continuing professional development.”

Further information on this guide is available at the RCGP shop.
