At least 75,000 more frontline NHS staff were vaccinated against flu this year, compared to last year.
The first official figures of winter, published by Public Health England (PHE) show that 318,335 frontline staff were vaccinated between 1 September and 31 October 2013.
This is 31% more than the same period last year. National uptake has increased to 35%, in comparison to 28.4% last year.
The figures follow the news that GPs should be able to get the flu jab at the practice in which they work, while locum GPs should return to the practice in which they are a patient to get the vaccination.
An NHS Employers statement said: “We hope to see these figures rise again in the next month, and see an even higher uptake figure in the December statistics.”
