Health secretary Andrew Lansley is to tell GPs how they can increase the quality of service they provide while cutting costs.
Mr Lansley will be joined by health experts from across the UK and the US, who will speak at the ‘Maximising Quality, Minimising Cost’ conference in London in January.
GPs and senior clinicians attending the event will hear from key specialists in the field such as Royal College of General Practitioners’ chairman Professor Steve Field and Dr Martin Marshall, clinical director of The Health Foundation. Two professors from Harvard University in the US will also speak about providing a value for money health system.
Then in the afternoon there will also be a series of workshops on putting the ideas into practice.
The conference is being organised by UCL Partners – a group of top London hospitals and medical research centres – and the foundation trust regulator Monitor.
