NHS Scotland is to get new hospitals and equipment upgrades in a multimillion-pound spending programme.
The new South Glasgow hospitals, Aberdeen Emergency Care and work at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh will be involved in the spend.
About £300m has been set aside for building health facilities and improving existing buildings, and around £50m will be spent on NHS Special Boards to replace vehicle and defibrillators for the ambulance service and the refurbishment of Carstairs State Hospital.
Some of the money will also be used for online health services, primary and community care premises, and replacing radiotherapy equipment.
Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon (pictured) said: “The funding will ensure that NHS boards continue to have the resources to offer first-class patient care across Scotland, a key priority for the Scottish government.
“With £353m allocated for NHS building and infrastructure projects across Scotland, it also shows the Scottish government’s commitment to support sectors of the economy, like the construction industry, hit hardest by the recession.”
The spending programme is included in the £11.35bn to be spent on the health service during 2010-11.
