Doncaster Primary Care Trust (PCT) has opened a new chlamydia testing service aimed at under 25s with the help of a sexual health charity.
The Terrence Higgins Trust has facilitated the clinic’s opening, which is to run every Monday between 12 and 2pm.
As well as chlamydia tests, the clinic will give out free condoms and offer information and advice on sexually transmitted infections and contraception to young people.
Service Development Manager at Terrence Higgins Trust Caroline Mason said: “We wanted to created a clinic that was convenient and accessible for young people so we based it in the centre of town.
“Having a service aimed specifically at under 25s should make coming along much less daunting.”
Christine Harrison, Doncaster PCT’s clinical manager, said: “Terrence Higgins Trust complements the drop-in and personal appointments services we provide.”
Over the next few months, the Terrence Higgins Trust plans to open similar services in Barnsely, Rotherham and Bassetlaw.
